If you are a tight Texas Hold’em player, you will not play many hands. Don’t waste your idle time watching TV or daydreaming; Take the time to use it by learning other players’ styles and utilizing what you learn.
According to Lee Jones in his excellent book, Winning Low Limit Hold’em, you can identify four different types of opponents. The first type of call all the time. He sure believes that two cards can win, and doesn’t want to get out of action if his hand can turn into a big winner. A large percentage of players with low limit hold’em fall into this category, and that’s a good thing for all of us. Every now and then they will get the miracles they hoped for and will defeat us, but most of the time they will continue to throw chips into the pot in losing cause. The important thing to remember is don’t try to bully these players; it will not work. They keep calling whatever happens. Jones referred to these players as “call stations” or loose players Judi Slot Online.
The next type is loose-aggressive players. He also likes to play a lot, but he is not satisfied with just calling, he prefers to raise even with marginal hands. He wants to gamble and likes to bully. He plays too many hands with little or no value, and will bluff his way to winning a few pots, but eventually he will lose all his chips. If you have good hands, you can sit and relax because this player will do all the bets for you. If you have two or more of these on your table, the pot can get very large, but you must be careful to only hold it with very good hands. When the pot is large, your risk is also large.
“Rock” is the type of player who has played many hands and knows which is good. He waits for two large (high) cards and then bet. He doesn’t like to gamble on speculative hands or throw money at him. You will not win a lot of money from this type but on the plus side it is very predictable.
You should try to be the fourth type: aggressive-strict. This is a solid player, who won’t play many hands, but takes control when he plays. He takes advantage of all the strategies that are open to him: checking if necessary, putting it back to get free cards, playing poker without mistakes, and exploiting the mistakes of his opponents. You want to be the only player of this type at the table; But if there are too many of these types on your desk, pack and find another table.
Watch about 20 hands before you sit down to play. Pay attention to the types of players at the table. Also pay attention to what cards each player shows after the showdown and pay attention to what they don’t show. For example, if the winning hand is the top pair and the other player throws away his hand, you have to fix what he can hold. Gather information that is useful for you and use it to help you win.
One last word of advice: be on the lookout for players who change their style of play for no reason. They are dangerous because you never know what they are doing.
